Lacrosse notebook: Tough competition for state’s top teams

Top-10 girls teams from Georgia played nine games against out-of-state opponents last week, winning five, with two of the state’s top-ranked teams breaking even.

Lacrosse: Pivotal week ahead for Centennial, Area 3-AAAAAA

As Centennial’s Bryan Wallace says, state championships are not won and lost in March. Nonetheless, the week ahead is a pivotal one for the Knights boys lacrosse team.

Third-ranked Centennial (7-1) faces a pair of crucial games in a tightly packed Area 3-AAAAAA this week, traveling to No. 6 Northview (7-1) on Wednesday and hosting No. 2 Lambert (8-1) on Saturday.

“It’s obviously a big week,” said Wallace, Centennial’s director of lacrosse

Lacrosse rankings: Walton, Harrison boys earn way into 6A poll

Buford gymnastics hoping to extend quick success … LAX update

Just three years after launching its high school program, the Buford gymnastics team already has its sights set on back-to-back state championships.

Lacrosse Rankings: Pope girls, boys jump in 6A poll

The Pope girls used a 13-3 victory over out-of-state Cy-Fair (TX) on Saturday and improved to 4-1, while jumping to No. 8 in the poll. The boys improved to 6-1 and made their debut in the top 5 after dismantling previously-unbeaten Mill Creek 16-4 on Saturday. Pope’s next test will be Wednesday night as they host the top-ranked Johns Creek Gladiators.
