Coach Alan Chadwick did it again.

In his 30th season, the legendary Marist coach took an outmanned team on the road and defeated a more-talented squad in the playoffs. This time defending champion Griffin was Chadwick’s victim.

Griffin had won 26 straight games, with its last loss at home coming in 2012. Loaded with next-level talent at wide receiver, the Bears were averaging 45.2 points per game and had barely been tested

This year’s lacrosse season saw three programs win their first GHSA title in program history, with the Kell Lady Longhorns, Northview Titans and Roswell Hornets earning championships. The fourth title went to a team accustomed to winning it all – the Milton Lady Eagles, who have all but one of the lacrosse state titles since the GHSA began officially acknowledging them in 2005.

On Saturday, the GHSA state champions of lacrosse will be determined after hard-fought regular seasons and postseasons. This will be the 10th season since the GHSA officially began recognizing lacrosse state champions.
