Lambert finished in the driver’s seat of the state’s highest classifications after a 2-1 win over Grayson in the championship game. Lambert marched through Norcross, Kennesaw Mountain, Walton and Mill Creek n way to the championship game. Grayson moved through North Gwinnett, Lassiter, Milton and South Forsyth to earn a shot at the championship.

Meadowcreek reigns supreme in the state’s highest classification after moving past Pebblebrook 2-0 in the AAAAAAAA championship game. The Mustangs advanced past South Forsyth, Kennesaw Mountain, Etowah and Roswell for a shot at the title. Second-ranked Pebblebrook made it through Woodstock, Mill Creek, Berkmar and Walton before falling to Meadowcreek.

Baseball schedule updates: Rain delays three finals, pushes Johns Creek-Lee County to Friday

Game 3 of the Johns Creek-Lee County semifinal series, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, has been rained out and will be played Friday at 1 p.m. in Leesburg.

Also, the AA and A private finals slated to start Wednesday in Savannah have been moved to Friday.

Previews of all eight state championship series

The AAAAAA finals are to be announced. The GHSA indicated that they would be played Tuesday and Wednesday next week,

State golf roundup: Mill Creek boys win first title

Mill Creek’s Peter Chung was medalist at 2-under 142 and the Hawks won the Class AAAAAAA boys championship at Chateau Elan’s Legends Course. It was their first state title.

Mill Creek finished at 586 and beat Lambert by four shots. Grant Sutliff finished 1 over for Lambert.  Mill Creek also got a 146 from Luke Karaulic, a 148 from Zach Mullett, a 74 from Alex Markham and a 75 from Jordan

State boys golf championship preview

The Johns Creek boys golf team may have the best one-two punch in the state and plenty of depth. But the Gladiators will be pushed to the limit if they hope to win their second straight state championship.

Johns Creek is among a handful of teams expected to contend for the Class AAAAAA title, a 36-hole affair that begins Monday at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville.

Lassiter pulled off the improbable by upsetting the three-time and defending state champions Lambert to win the second title in program history on Saturday night at Lakewood Stadium.
