Maxwell Week 6 Projections

Each game is listed showing the game rate, favorite, the expected winning percentage of the favored team, the projected margin, and the opponent.
The game rating is the rating required to win 50% of all games in an infinite round robin competition against the expected rating of the loser of the game, which favors games with highly rated and closely matched opponents.

With its state championships and former players in the NFL, Sandy Creek has been the blueblood program in Fayette County for the better part of two decades. Starr’s Mill, which has a strong history of its own, has been relegated to living in the Patriots’ shadow.

Observations from Friday night, Week 4:

Irma’s impact
Hurricane Irma’s impending arrival has impacted the high school football schedule, this weekend and for the next couple of weeks when region games will need to be rescheduled:

Savannah Country Day 44, Johnson-Savannah 16. This game was moved up to Thursday.
Savannah Christian at Charlton County, and Portal at Jenkins County have been cancelled.
Bryan County at McIntosh County Academy has been cancelled.

North Gwinnett 35, Norcross 14

NORCROSS – The running-of-the-Bulldogs commenced Friday night at Blue Devil Stadium.

That’s where running back Tyler Goodson and the North Gwinnett offense ran through the Norcross defense for a 35-14 win.

Led by Goodson, the Bulldogs (3-1) rushed for 335 yards and five touchdowns to knock off the No. 7 Blue Devils (1-2), and end a four-game losing streak to their rival. Goodson had 241 of those yards and three of those

Stephenson 31, Southwest DeKalb 18

After hitting the snooze button multiple times and posting a goose egg in the first half, Stephenson woke up following the intermission with a burst of energy and a scoring jamboree.

A 14-point third quarter proved to the Jaguars’ springboard to success, leading to a 31-18 victory against neighboring Southwest DeKalb at Hallford Stadium.

Griffin 17, Upson-Lee 7

Thomaston – The head coach was in a rehabilitation facility, the Shepherd Center, about 85 miles away.
But there it was clear the head coach Tommy Parks was on the minds of a several thousand fans at Upson-Lee’s Matthews Field.
Scores of fans – as well as Griffin’s coaching staff – wore “TPStrong” t-shirts, and there were different avenues of fund-raising going on throughout the facility as Parks recuperated from a stroke
