Five regions playing mini-games Monday night

Five regions that finished with ties for playoff spots will conduct mini-games Monday night to finalize their postseason representatives and seeds for this weekend’s first round of the playoffs:

*Region 6-AAAA: Northwest Whitfield, Pickens and Southeast Whitfield

Tucker, Alpharetta, Dacula roll to region titles

Six of the eight Class AAAAAA region titles were still on the line heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

In three of the six title chases, the favored teams won easily. Those would be Tucker (Region 4), Alpharetta (Region 7) and Dacula (Region 8).

Hillgrove 14, McEachern 7

Quarterback Hunter Arters threw a touchdown pass and scored on an 18-yard run Friday to lead the Hawks to a 14-7 victory over rival McEachern in a game that decided the Region 3-AAAAAAA championship.

Hillgrove secured its first region title since 2014 and the third in school history. The Hawks (7-3, 4-1) will be at home against Roswell next week in the first round of the playoffs.

Records, rankings: Bainbridge is 7-2 overall, 3-0 in Region 1-AAAAA and No. 5; Warner Robins is 9-0, 3-0 and No. 4.
