Four Questions with Roswell coach John Ford

By Todd Holcomb

GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We’ll report from a different head coach each day.

John Ford, Roswell

1. Who is/was the most influential person in your coaching career? “As a player [at Brookwood], Dave Hunter, Ray Allen and David Nelson inspired me to want to go into the business. As a coach, I was blessed to start with [retired Harrison coach] Bruce Cobleigh at a young age. He shaped my coaching philosophy.”

2. Who is the best Georgia player you ever faced? “Jamal Lewis – RB Douglass High, 1996. Unbelievable combination of size and speed.” [Ford played on Brookwood's 1996 state championship team that beat Douglass in the second round.]

3. What is the best team you ever faced as a coach?“2011 Walton Raiders.”

4. If you were Gary Phillips, the new head of the GHSA, what would be the first rule that you would try to change? “Outlaw seven-on-seven teams that are not affiliated with the school.”
