Lincoln County promotes Banks to replace Campbell

By Todd Holcomb

Kevin Banks was approved as the head football coach at Lincoln County at a school board meeting Tuesday.

Banks, an assistant at Lincoln County for the past 19 seasons, replaces Larry Campbell, who won 477 games and 11 state championships in 42 seasons. Banks also will replace Campbell as athletics director.

“He led a dynasty,” Banks told the Augusta Chronicle. “We want to continue it.”

Banks, who had served as defensive coordinator, was part of Lincoln County’s state titles in 1995, 2005 and 2006.

Replacing a legend is tough...at least he was in the program and understands the system and expectations!!
