Reports: Walton’s Hidalgo to take Glynn Academy job

By Todd Holcomb

Rocky Hidalgo, who led Walton to the Class AAAAA championship game in 2011, will be the next head coach of Glynn Academy in Brunswick, according to two online reports.

Hidalgo, reached on his cell phone Wednesday evening, declined to confirm or comment. Score Atlanta and the Marietta Daily Journal, citing unnamed sources, have reported that Hidalgo will accept the job.

Hidalgo is 40-18 in his five seasons at Walton. He succeeded Ed Dudley, who made a similar move to southeast Georgia in 2009 when he took the job at Ware County. Dudley now is at Carrollton.

The Glynn Academy job came open when Rob Ridings, who was 67-43 in 10 seasons, was hired at Thomson.

Hidalgo has coached at Walton for 18 seasons overall. He was defensive coordinator for seven.
