Lacrosse: Milton girls beat No. 2 team from Florida

Here are some highlights from top teams and performers in GHSA lacrosse:

Boys: The Peachtree Ridge Lions, ranked No. 8 in AAAAAA, defeated Riverwood 17-3 and improved to 7-2 and 5-0 in 4-AAAAAA. They were led by Steven Lee’s 4 goals and 5 assists. Michael Pinkstaff, Rob Peterson and Ben Briggette had 3 goals apiece. … AAAAAA’s No. 6-ranked Centennial Knights are 8-2 (7-0 in Region 3) after a 15-11 win over Chattahoochee. attackers Nathan Solomon had 5 goals and 3 assists and Ryan Carvin had 5 goals and 2 assists. … The Westminster Wildcats (10-0, 5-0 in Region 2) are ranked No. 2 in AAAAA-A and defeated Decatur 16-7 in a rematch of last season’s state semifinal. Midfielder Harrison Fiveash had 3 goals and 3 assists and attackers Jack Patton and Trip Wray each scored 4 goals. … AAAAAA’s No. 3-ranked North Gwinnett Bulldogs beat Colins Hill 9-3, improving to 12-0 (7-0 in Region 4). Leaders included Colton Garvin, Sam Gasta, Rakan Aboneaaj and Alex Gasta. … The Grayson Rams were 1-1 on the week to move to 11-1 overall (7-1 in 4-AAAAAA) after a 17-8 win over Mountain View and a 15-2 loss to Mill Creek. The Rams were led by Cameron Schuster, Matt McHugh and Hayden Rozalski. … Freshman attacker Drew Simons and senior Jason Malik each scored 3 goals for the Pace Academy Knights, who lost to McIntosh 13-9.

Girls: AAAAAA’s No. 1-ranked Milton Lady Eagles defeated the No. 2-ranked team in Florida, Ponte Vedra, by a score of 16-8. They then beat Woodstock 20-4. Leaders for the week were Emily Velez (7 goals, 2 assists), Brooke Winsness (6,2) and Jessi Masinko (6, 3). They’re in a stretch of playing eight consecutive out-of-state ranked opponents. … The Blessed Trinity Lady Titans are ranked no. 7 and improved to 7-4 (3-2 in Region 3) after a 19-14 win against McIntosh and a 12-11 loss to No. 8 St. Pius. Leaders include Mary Markwordt (7 goals, 2 assists) and Payton Fadem (4, 5). … AAAAAA’s No. 9-ranked North Gwinnett Lady Bulldogs lost to Chattahoochee 10-9 and lost 15-13 to Collins Hill, moving to 9-4 (3-1 in Region 4). Lindsey Cobb scored 6 goals on the week, freshman Haley Gorke added 5 and freshman Liz Blumthal had 4 goals and 6 draw controls. … The Starr’s Mill Panthers are 10-1 (7-0 in 1-AAAAA-A) after wins of 19-2 over Pace and 19-5 over Whitewater. Leaders on the week include Meghan Mills and Alyssa Sack, who scored 8 goals apiece, and defenseman Katie Wilson (6 forced turnovers, 8 ground balls, 2 interceptions). … The Centennial Lady Knights are ranked No. 6 in AAAAAA picked up a pair of wins over Johns Creek and Alpharetta, improving to 9-4 (4-1 in Region 3). Becca Davis had 10 goals and 8 assists on the week and other leaders include Julia Couch, Deryn Braukman and Claire Allen. … AAAAA-A’s No. 5 Northview Lady Titans beat Marist and Roswell this week, led by Sophie Kopec, Colleen O’Connell and Jessie Kallish.
